Introduction
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has recently announced the launch of Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded notes (ETNs). These ETNs, offered by WisdomTreeEU and 21Shares, have commenced trading on the LSE as of May 28, 2024.
WisdomTree’s ETNs
WisdomTree has introduced two products: WisdomTree Physical Bitcoin and WisdomTree Physical Ethereum. These ETNs are 100% physically backed ETPs and have received approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Initially, these products will be available to professional investors upon listing.
21Shares’ ETNs
In addition to WisdomTree, 21Shares has also entered the UK market with its fully backed crypto-asset ETNs. These ETNs are available in both GBP and USD and are exclusively offered to professional investors.
Trading on the LSE
All six ETN products, including the ones offered by WisdomTree and 21Shares, have started trading on the London Stock Exchange. This move allows investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin and Ethereum through these exchange-traded notes.
